Good Bye Page Flakes Hello Google Reader

December 20, 2008 10:46 by gemery

I have to admit when pageflakes came out a couple of years ago I was amped. With its pretty drag and drop and easy to use interface I was hooked, but as the glitz wore off and I started to purpose it for everyday use all I was really using it for was my RSS reader, and for awhile it was really good at that.

The main problem was that when I went to site it never stored articles that I already read . So I was constantly looking for new content. What started out to be a love affair with the hip newspaper layout turned out to be a sad divorce several years late for a much sleeker thinner design that actually listened to me. Not to mention not work in foreign countries with slow band width and don’t even think about mobile.

That being said I know that page flakes has much more to offer but I never really used the extra stuff since I already had the weather and the likes in my vista side bar(shameless plug). Does any else have uses that I have been missing or is the day of the start up pages slowly diminishing…..Again.
