Twitter Script – Who’s following you - Power Shell For Twitter

February 25, 2009 12:37 by gemery

image There are some much better programs for this like http://twollow.com/, but if you are are programmer that uses powershelll then you might really enjoy this.

I don't believe in the whole auto follow thing, but hey it works for some people....

All you have to do is copy and paste the below script at a PowerShell prompt – change the Username and Password first! When it runs it populates two arrays $notfriended and $notfollowed (just type the names at the prompt to list their contents).

There’s an example at the end (commented out) of how to iterate over the $notfriended list to add the people who are following you but you’re not yet following.

There is a rate limit on the Twitter API. If you have *a lot* of friends / followers, you may hit it. The call to Get-TwitterLimitStatus gives you a short summary of your current limit status.

Usual rules apply, no warranties, limited testing, limited error handling, use at your own risk, yadda, yadda, yadda…\

Come see his post at

Update Twitter via RSS with twitterfeed

January 21, 2009 22:54 by gemery

Twitter is a great app to keep people in touch. Silly me thought that most people read your RSS from a blog. Then the other day a person who i think highly of told me that he doesn't believe in RSS and only reads blog posts people bring to attention mostly though twitter. Well silly me was manually posting my blog update via twitter manually. Today while having lunch with a friend he told me he would set his alarm for when his posts were going out and then manually posting to twitter as well until he found twitter feed. Let me tell you what a life savor. Twitter feed takes in your RSS and posts to your twitter profile when new posts arrive it also has a slew of great options to choose from, and choices that allow you to schedule your tweets. My is set to update ping.fm a status update aggregate. I was actually considering right a plug-in for my blog on this.. What a great app.

Twitter-friends gives you stats on your friends

January 7, 2009 08:31 by gemery

What to see a social graph of your friends and who is replying to you? With Twitter Friends you can do just that.

image

A nice graphic representation of the who is replying and linking. It also gives some interesting rankings about other fun twitter facts.

image

If you do feel like logging in, you can see who in your network is inactive, and who's online - presumably based on the time of their latest tweet. This can be handy if you're looking to prune back an overgrown network. Mostly, though, Twitterfriends is a fun way to find out about and evaluate how you're using Twitter.

Pre-Born Baby Twitters .. Twitter a kick with Kickbee

December 12, 2008 08:32 by gemery

I have way to much work to do today but I had to share this especially since it reminds me of Santa.…

Corey Menscher  built a Java application receives the sensor values and analyzes them. he then extended the model for his pregnant wife so that when a kick event is detected, a Twitter message is posted via the Twitter API.

Here is what corry has to say

As a baby grows inside the womb, pregnant mothers are constantly and acutely aware of its presence mostly through its movements. With the Kickbee, I intend to extend a baby's minute contact with the world beyond the mother's body by sensing these movements and transmitting them to digital networks.

There's something special about pregnant women's bellies that make so many want to touch them. The presence of a child inside the womb is mysterious because we only have visual clues to its presence. Yet we know that if we press our hand and wait patiently, we may be greeted with a physical manifestation of its existence by feeling the baby's subtle (and not so subtle) movements inside.

As an expectant father, I am once-removed from the physical knowledge my wife has of our baby and its development. With the Kickbee, I wanted to create a device that would give me a chance to be aware of our baby's movements. It can also aid in tracking the frequency of fetal movements, which is an important way to monitor the health of the developing child.

The Kickbee is a wearable device made of a stretchable band and embedded electronics and sensors. Piezo sensors are attached directly to the band, and transmit small but detectable voltages when triggered by movement underneath. An Arduino Mini microcontroller transmits the signals to an accompanying Java application wirelessly via Bluetooth. (a SparkFun BlueSMIRF v2 module that communicates serially with a Macbook Pro)

When a kick event is detected, a Twitter message is posted via the Twitter API. I chose to use Twitter because it is easy to initiate an SMS message to any mobile phone when a kick is detected. It also acts as a data log that can be accessed programmatically for visualization or archiving.

N/AN/A

I think the next step would be to put the reverse on a man that actually punches him in the stomach when the baby kicks or better yet his bladder. It brings up a interesting point of using twitter as a service bust/que for in coming messages..
